Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to lead EH&S programs across a multi-site network. You will partner with Operations, Fleet, HR, and site leadership to strengthen safety and regulatory compliance, owning audits, investigations, and continuous improvement while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires a bachelor's in a safety-related field and 5-7+ years of EH&S experience; CSP/ASP or OSHA 30-Hour preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a safety/environmental field.
• 5-7+ years of progressive EH&S experience across multiple sites.
• Experience leading safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations with corrective actions.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT; regulated medical waste experience.
• Professional certifications such as CSP/ASP/HAZWOPER preferred; CSP a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of safety, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, and environmental compliance.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with MS Office and EH&S management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety inspections, compliance audits, and hazard assessments across multiple sites.
• Investigate workplace injuries, accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents with root-cause analysis.
• Develop and deliver employee safety training curricula (e.g., Bloodborne Pathogens, DOT HazMat).
• Maintain and improve EH&S databases, training records, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
• Mentor junior EH&S staff and lead cross-site continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations, Fleet, HR, and leadership to strengthen safety culture and compliance.
• Prepare for customer audits, regulatory inspections, and special projects.
• Travel to company locations to lead audits, investigations, and training.
