Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to lead safety and compliance across a growing multi-site network in the United States. You will partner with Operations and leadership to strengthen workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.

The role requires leading complex safety audits, investigations, and program design, while mentoring junior staff and traveling 40-50% to various sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
• 5-7+ years of progressive EH&S experience across multiple sites.
• Experience leading safety inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental regulations; medical waste programs.
• Professional certification such as CSP/ASP/OSHA 30-Hour General Industry preferred; CSP a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance efforts with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, CDC across sites.
• Design and lead safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Investigate injuries, accidents, near misses with root-cause analysis.
• Own environmental compliance programs for regulated medical waste and related areas.
• Develop and deliver employee safety training curricula.
• Maintain EH&S databases, training records, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
• Mentor junior EH&S staff and lead cross-site initiatives.
• Travel to Company locations to lead audits, investigations, training, inspections, and support.
