Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Senior EH&S Specialist to lead safety and regulatory compliance across 35+ sites, partnering with Operations, Fleet, HR, and site leadership to strengthen workplace safety and environmental stewardship. This role owns complex safety audits, incident investigations, and training programs.

You will mentor junior EH&S staff, drive continuous improvement, and report to the EH&S leadership team with independence and sound judgment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, or related field.
• 5-7+ years of progressive EH&S experience across multiple sites.
• Experience leading safety inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT; hands-on regulated medical waste program experience.
• Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, DOT HazMat, or HAZWOPER preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EH&S management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety audits and compliance across multiple sites.
• Investigate workplace injuries, near misses, and environmental incidents.
• Design and deliver employee safety training and curricula.
• Develop and monitor corrective action plans and risk mitigation strategies.
• Maintain EH&S databases, training records, and reports to leadership.
• Travel 40-50% to sites for audits, inspections, and training.
• Mentor junior EH&S staff and support cross-functional projects.
• Represent EH&S with customers and regulators during audits.
• Ensure timely reporting of injuries to insurers and third parties.
• Support emergency response planning and fleet safety initiatives.
