Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a seasoned Component Engineer to drive EEE component selection, pedigree evaluation, derating, and qualification. You will support procurement, inventory management, and develop standards for testing and screening of high-reliability avionics.

You'll collaborate with engineers, program managers, and suppliers to improve performance, quality, and reliability of avionics systems, while ensuring compliance with industry requirements and baselining efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in component and parts management, avionics hardware development, integration, and/or test.
• Ability to assess BOM for avionics designs against approved vendor/component parts lists and standards.
• Experience in a design, manufacturing, quality, or reliability capacity.
• Ability to lead and investigate part advisories, product change notices, and alerts (e.g., GIDEP, ECIA).
• Experience with managing part change notifications and assessing impact.
• Experience with obsolescence management of EEE parts.
• Ability to travel as the need arises to supplier locations throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Utilize PLM features to improve visibility into the product/component approval lifecycle for all business/technical stakeholders.
• Lead program-wide component level assessment and evaluation activities.
• Support sustaining engineering and obsolescence management in a EEE components capacity.
• Develop component level requirements and assist the responsible engineer in design solutions.
• Develop value-added screening and qualification approaches and methodologies.
• Ensure compliance to EEE component requirements.
• Lead sustainment activities to maintain baseline control. Increased focus on PCN/GIDEP management and proactive obsolescence planning is needed.
• Enforce baseline control.
