Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Component Engineer in Huntsville to lead EEE component selection, pedigree evaluation, derating, and qualification activities for high‑reliability avionics. You will collaborate with engineers, program managers, and suppliers to ensure compliant, cost‑effective components and maintain lifecycle plans.

The role emphasizes applying standards, supporting procurement, and leading obsolescence planning while traveling to supplier sites across the U.S. to support programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years hands-on experience in component/parts management and avionics hardware.
• Experience leading part advisories, CCA/ECIA alerts, and PPAP documentation.
• Ability to travel to supplier locations across the U.S. as needed.
• Experience with EEE component obsolescence management and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Utilize PLM software to manage product/component approval lifecycle.
• Lead component level assessments across programs.
• Support sustaining engineering and obsolescence management for EEE parts.
• Develop component requirements and assist design solutions.
• Develop screening and qualification methodologies.
• Ensure compliance to EEE component requirements and baseline control.
• Lead obsolescence planning and PCN/GIDEP management.
