Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the United States seeks a senior avionics engineer to lead end-to-end development of space-rated components. You will drive requirements, design, analysis, tests, and reviews for ruggedized hardware within a cross-disciplinary team, focusing on reliability and mission success.

Joining the Spacecraft Bus Avionics team, you’ll collaborate with customers, define architectures, and ensure flight hardware meets stringent space environments, with strong emphasis on digital design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years hands-on ruggedized hardware design.
  • End-to-end development of space-rated components from requirements to production release.
  • Experience designing hardware for radiation environments and space EEE parts.
  • Experience integrating complex optoelectronic and electromechanical flight hardware components.
  • Strong digital design experience including FPGAs, CMOS sensors, and DDR memory.
  • Hands-on PCB design using Altium Designer with impedance-controlled nets and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end product development for a space-rated component.
  • Provide leadership as a member of a cross disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and design architecture.
  • Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to incorporate PCB interconnect, signal integrity, and power integrity analyses.
  • Lead design trade studies and ensure high reliability in harsh environments.
  • Create mechanical interface definitions, specifications, and control documents.
  • Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews.
  • Create and deliver presentations, proposals, and training material on technical subjects.
  • Review assembly instructions and support hardware builds.
  • Validate requirements through design, test, analysis, and inspection.
  • Support Production and Quality Engineering as needed, including dispositioning defects.
  • Manage revisions of product design configurations through lifecycle.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.
  • Review and approve designs and documentation created by other team members.
