Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Developer (EDI) for a remote, full-time role within the Veterans Affairs department. The job focuses on owning EDI workflows, data validation, and partner integrations for 270/271, 276/277, and other EDI sets, with an emphasis on SNIP compliance and Edifecs tooling.

The ideal candidate will have extensive EDI/X12 experience, strong AWS skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders while supporting audits and data

Qualifications

• Experience with Edifecs XEngine validation results and understanding processing rules
• Proficiency in interpreting EDI X.12 Loop/segment/element interpretations
• Strong AWS cloud experience and understanding of secure data flows
• Knowledge of SNIP validations (Levels 1-7) and companion guides
• Ability to map and troubleshoot EDI data for payer/provider processes
• Experience with Edifecs logs, routes, profiles, or rulesets
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and JIRA
• Excellent listening and stakeholder engagement skills

Responsibilities

• Own functional EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules
• Ensure accurate transaction processing and support business operations
• Interpret and troubleshoot transaction sets: 270/271, 276/277, 278, 820, 834, 835, 837, 999/277CA
• Analyze SNIP compliance, companion guides, and partner validation rules
• Document mapping/logical requirements for new partners and integration changes
• Partner with stakeholders for issue resolution and operational impact assessments
• Support audits and maintain data quality guardrails
• Collaborate with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps, Cloud teams, and business teams
• Work with AS2, SFTP, and HTTPS flows
• Validate data with non-X.12 partners and reconcile mismatches
• Query SQL for transaction details and review parsed EDI structures in SQL databases
