Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior Software Developer (EDI) to own EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules. This is a 100% U.S.-based remote position with a competitive salary and benefits.

You will collaborate with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps, Cloud teams, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate transaction processing for health care EDI standards such as 270/271, 276/277, 820, 834, 835, 837, and 999/277CA. U.S.

Qualifications

• A strong understanding of payer/provider workflows.
• Ability to interpret loops/segments/element errors.
• Experience with Edifecs Transaction Management or equivalent tools.
• Strong AWS cloud experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Deep knowledge of EDI X.12 loop/segment interpretation and SNIP validations.

Responsibilities

• Own functional EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules.
• Ensure accurate transaction processing and support business operations.
• Interpret and troubleshoot transaction sets (270/271, 276/277, 278, 820, 834, 835, 837, 999/277CA).
• Analyze SNIP compliance and companion guides.
• Document mapping and integration changes for new partners.
• Collaborate with stakeholders for issue resolution and impact assessments.
• Support audit/review processes and maintain data quality guardrails.
• Coordinate with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps, Cloud teams, and business units.
• Work with AS2, SFTP, and HTTPS flows in integration.
• Validate data with non-X.12 partners and resolve middleware issues.
• Query SQL for transaction details and reconcile EDI data.
• Ensure inbound/outbound workflow architecture integrity.
• Communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Translate business reporting needs into technical data models.
• Participate in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and JIRA.
• Document SOPs and partner reference guides to standardize processes.
