Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a talented Senior Software Developer (EDI) to own EDI workflows, data validation, and partner integrations. The role emphasizes troubleshooting 270/271, 276/277, 278, 820, 834, 835, 837, and related transactional standards within a cloud environment.

Requirements include deep Edifecs experience, AWS expertise, and strong communication with stakeholders. This is a 100% U.S.-based remote position supporting Veterans Affairs operations and requires U.S.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of payer/provider workflows
• Ability to interpret loops/segments/element-level errors
• Experience with Edifecs Transaction Management or equivalent tools
• Experience interpreting Edifecs XEngine validation results
• Experience with SpecBuilder maps and implementation guides
• Ability to identify issues from Edifecs routes/profiles/rulesets
• Ability to interpret Edifecs logs and error codes at functional level
• Proficiency in diagnosing mapping mismatches and payer/state rejections
• Experience with SQL queries for transaction details
• Experience with inbound/outbound workflow architecture
• Ability to communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience gathering business requirements into technical data models
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and JIRA
• Strong documentation habits for SOPs and partner guides

Responsibilities

• Own EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules
• Ensure accurate transaction processing and support operations
• Interpret and troubleshoot 270/271, 276/277, 278, 820, 834, 835, 837, 999/277CA
• Analyze SNIP compliance and companion guides
• Document mapping requirements for new partners
• Collaborate with stakeholders for issue resolution
• Support audit/compliance reviews and maintain data quality guardrails
• Work with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps, Cloud teams, and business teams
• Manage AS2, SFTP, and HTTPS flows
• Validate data with non-X.12 partners
• Identify issues from middleware or APIs
• Query SQL for transaction details
• Validate payloads, timestamps, and error flags
• Reconcile mismatches between raw EDI and stored data
