Job summary

ENERGYCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Ecologist to support nuclear environmental licensing nationwide. You will conduct environmental reviews, prepare reports, and engage with regulatory agencies while leading fieldwork and mentoring junior staff.

The role involves site visits, data collection, and developing technical content for licensing applications, with 5% travel and opportunities across multiple U.S. locations, including Naperville, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in environmental consulting, nuclear power, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of ESA, NEPA, MBTA, BGEPA, etc.
• Experience with federal or state regulatory agencies.
• Experience developing technical and environmental reports and supporting regulatory reviews.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency using MS Word and MS Excel.
• Ability to travel/work in the field ~5% of the time; fieldwork 3–4 days.

Responsibilities

• Environmental Impact Assessment & Compliance: Conduct environmental reviews to assess the potential impact of proposed nuclear facilities on terrestrial and aquatic resources.
• Prepare environmental reports and biological assessments in accordance with NRC regulations, NEPA, and other guidelines.
• Support environmental licensing applications for the NRC and stay current on regulations.
• Data Collection & Site Evaluation: Participate in site visits to gather environmental data and assess potential environmental impacts.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public to address environmental concerns.
• Fieldwork & Environmental Protection: Develop and implement environmental protection measures; conduct terrestrial and aquatic evaluations.
• Mentorship & Proposal Support: Mentor junior staff and assist in proposals and statements of qualification.
