Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Senior Development Engineer to join the Drivetrain Controls System Simulation and Validation organization, focusing on electrohydraulic brakes for Caterpillar machines.

You will own design for lower powertrain brake controls and lead cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions that meet customer and enterprise goals. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and validation teams, ensuring reliable, validated brake control systems and ongoing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering curriculum is required, preferably in multiple engineering disciplines.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with systems thinking.
• Clear, effective communication with internal stakeholders and customers.
• Proven project management experience delivering technical programs on schedule and budget.
• Knowledge of controls development tools, simulations, and validation practices.
• Experience in product testing and verification across complex brake/control systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems in manufacturing or product development environments.

Responsibilities

• Help establish the Drivetrain Brake Mechatronics team and align programs with technology requirements for lower powertrain systems.
• Lead design, development, implementation, and validation of drivetrain control software and algorithms.
• Own legacy technologies, ensuring reliability, compliance, and continued enterprise value.
• Apply systems engineering to balance performance and durability across brake control solutions.
• Collaborate with machine teams to select designs and coordinate verification and validation activities.
• Lead process improvements in controls development and validation, including standard work and lessons learned.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, software, and validation teams for seamless system integration.
