Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Control Systems Engineering Specialist in Mossville, IL or Washington, IL. You will lead NTI software development and validation for integrated drivetrain controls, collaborating across cross-functional teams to deliver robust mechatronic solutions.

The role emphasizes systems thinking, software quality, and rigorous validation across simulation, bench, and machine environments, with onsite five days a week and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum (preferably).
• Degrees: Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer, Agricultural Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute New Technology software development for drivetrain applications, including requirements, architecture, implementation, verification and delivery.
• Develop and integrate drivetrain control solutions for transmissions, torque converters, brakes, actuators, sensors, and embedded software.
• Own validation planning and execution with verification strategies, test plans, instrumentation, and data review across sim, bench, and machine environments.
• Execute technology transformation projects to modernize controls, software workflows, and development practices.
• Apply systems engineering to balance performance, durability, safety, maintainability, and cost across mechatronic solutions.
• Coordinate with global teams to support design reviews, software releases, integration, simulation, and validation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, simulation, and validation teams for seamless system integration and issue resolution.
• Drive technical problem solving through data analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective actions during development and validation.
• Contribute to standard work and continuous improvement in drivetrain mechatronics development and validation processes.
