Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, IL is seeking a Sr. Hydraulic System Controls Engineer to design, develop, validate and improve hydraulic systems and controls for Earthmoving products such as medium wheel loaders and graders.
You will work with global teams, perform analysis on end-of-line data, and develop AI-enabled solutions to raise performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness. The role requires hands-on testing and field validation, with relocation and visa sponsorship available.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Controls Engineering (or related field).
- Experience with off-highway or heavy equipment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and control such as implement, steering, brake and fan.
- Willingness to support hands-on testing and field validation.
- Experience with MATLAB Simulink or similar tools.
- Knowledge of AI tools and data analytics for vehicle data.
Responsibilities
- Develop controls and tuning of hydraulic systems (implement, steering, fan, brake).
- Support advanced engineering projects and evaluate performance.
- Validate hydraulic system performance via simulation, testing, and field validation.
- Diagnose and resolve hydraulic system issues through analysis and testing.
- Support development of valves, cylinders, pumps, motors; ensure cost and delivery targets.
