Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to join the Drivetrain Controls System Simulation and Validation (DCSSV) organization to support electrohydraulic brake systems.

The role requires design ownership of lower powertrain brake controls and leadership of cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The successful candidate will oversee design, development, implementation, and validation of drivetrain control software, while applying systems engineering principles

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
• - Degree preferences include Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer, Systems, or Agricultural Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and validation of drivetrain control software and algorithms for lower powertrain brake systems.
• Provide project ownership and long-term stewardship of legacy technologies, ensuring reliability and compliance.
• Apply systems engineering principles to balance performance, durability, robustness, cost, and maintenance across brake controls solutions.
• Collaborate with machine teams to evaluate design choices, verification activities, and validation efforts.
• Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives across controls development and validation.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and validation teams for seamless system integration.
