Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Dam Safety and Water Resources practice. The role spans technical leadership, project management, and mentorship across mid-Atlantic offices including Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

You will guide analyses, modeling, and design efforts for complex dam safety and flood risk projects. The ideal candidate balances technical excellence with client engagement and team leadership, shaping project strategy and supporting business growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in dam, hydraulic infrastructure, water resources engineering, flood risk management, or related disciplines.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), with ability to obtain additional state licensures as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of dam safety and hydraulic infrastructure engineering, including flood hydrology and spillway design.
  • Experience with stormwater management, drainage, erosion and sediment control, and watershed studies.
  • Experience leading dam, levee, and hydraulic projects and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to review technical calculations and modeling prepared by junior staff.
  • Proficiency with modeling tools HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TR-55, HydroCAD, GIS, and CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dam and levee engineering analyses and dam safety inspections.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for dam safety using HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS.
  • Support dam rehabilitation projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and inundation mapping.
  • Lead project teams and coordinate multidisciplinary staff.
  • Review reports, designs, and analyses for technical quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide mentorship and career development for engineers and staff.
  • Support proposals, client engagement, and business development.
