Job summary

Leidos in the United States is seeking a cleared Senior Wide Area Network (WAN) Engineer to design, implement and sustain DoD enterprise WAN routing across NIPRNet, SIPRNet and DISN. You will lead BGP design, peering, policy, and ensure STIG compliance and availability of critical circuits worldwide.

Responsibilities include configuring Cisco/Juniper platforms, managing Type 1 encryptors, QoS, and traffic engineering while coordinating with DISA, NOC/SOC teams and site personnel.

Qualifications

• US Citizen with Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI before start date.
• 8+ years of hands-on enterprise WAN engineering and operations experience in a DoD environment.
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification plus an active CCNP Enterprise, JNCIP-SP, or equivalent routing cert.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain BGP routing across the enterprise WAN with peering and policy.
• Escalation authority for complex WAN faults and circuit issues.
• Engineer circuit installations, migrations, upgrades, and site cutovers with rollback plans.
• Develop routing policy standards and authoritative network documentation.
• Configure QoS and traffic engineering for mission-critical traffic.
• Apply DISA STIGs and support RMF artifacts and POA&M closure.
• Coordinate with DISA, NOC/SOC, providers, and site staff for maintenance and outages.
• Monitor WAN health with SolarWinds/NetFlow/SNMP and provide capacity analyses.
• Manage Type 1 encryptor configuration and key management for secure connectivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in governance boards.
