Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a 100% remote role in the United States. You will design and operate large-scale distributed backend services powering critical workloads, focusing on scalability, reliability, performance, and clean engineering practices.

Equity in architecture decisions and mentoring junior engineers are key parts of the role. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in backend engineering, deep distributed systems knowledge, and hands-on experience

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Ten or more years of professional backend engineering experience, with distributed systems focus.
Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Scala, or similar.
Hands-on experience with high-throughput messaging systems (Kafka).
Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Excellent communication, documentation, and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement large-scale distributed backend systems in Java, Go, Scala, or similar.
Architect data partitioning, replication, and consistency strategies.
Build resilient APIs and event-driven services with observability and idempotency.
Optimize systems for latency, throughput, and cost via profiling and load testing.
Lead architecture reviews and technical design discussions.
Mentor mid-level engineers and drive reliability improvements.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and runbooks.
