Qualifications

• 15+ years of related experience in consultant relations, institutional business development, or a closely related institutional distribution role within asset management.
• Established relationships with major U.S. investment consulting firms.
• Proven track record translating consultant engagement into ratings, recommendations, and commercial opportunities.
• Strong understanding of the institutional investment landscape and the role consultants play in manager research, selection, and client portfolio decisions.
• Experience representing sophisticated investment strategies to institutional investment professionals.
• Exceptional relationship management, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
• Commercially minded with ability to connect long-term relationship development with business opportunities.
• Collaborative, team-oriented, low-ego approach; able to coordinate across Investment, Product, Sales, and distribution teams.
• Ability to travel extensively in support of consultant relationships and business priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own senior-level relationships with key investment consulting firms and connect with research teams, field consultants, and decision-makers.
• Develop and execute strategic account plans for assigned consulting firms.Identify crucial relationships, investment capabilities, ratings, and commercial opportunities.
• Strengthen Barings’ positioning within the consultant community, especially in alternatives and private markets.
• Drive positive consultant ratings by managing the full relationship lifecycle including education, portfolio updates, and ongoing management.
• Identify commercial opportunities and partner with Institutional Sales to pursue them and convert advocacy into new business.
• Build relationships beyond centralized research teams with field consultants and influential stakeholders.
• Maintain understanding of assigned firms' structure, priorities, client base, and competitive dynamics.
• Provide internal consultant and market intelligence to Investment, Product, Sales, and leadership.
• Create differentiated engagement opportunities connecting consultants with Barings’ professionals and insights.
• Collaborate across Consultant Relations and Institutional Sales to share relationships and opportunities.
• Document consultant activity, ratings, opportunities, and next steps in the CRM.
