Barings LLC is seeking a Senior Director or Managing Director in Consultant Relations to lead senior relationships with top U.S. investment consultants. The role emphasizes strategic accounts, cross-functional collaboration, and driving business opportunities nationwide across Barings’ investment capabilities.

You will work with Institutional Sales, Investment, and Product teams to deepen engagement, improve consultant ratings, and support asset growth. Extensive travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of related experience in consultant relations, institutional business development, or a closely related institutional distribution role within asset management.
• Established relationships with major U.S. investment consulting firms.
• Track record of developing senior relationships and translating engagement into ratings, recommendations, and opportunities.
• Strong understanding of the institutional investment landscape and consultant role in manager research and client decisions.
• Experience representing sophisticated investment strategies to institutional professionals.
• Excellent relationship management, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
• Commercially minded with ability to connect long-term relationships with business opportunities.
• Collaborative, team-oriented, low-ego approach across Investment, Product, Sales, and distribution teams.

Responsibilities

• Own senior-level relationships with key investment consulting firms across research teams, field consultants, and decision-makers.
• Develop and execute strategic account plans for assigned firms, identifying critical relationships and opportunities.
• Articulate Barings’ investment capabilities and value proposition to consultants and research teams.
• Drive consultant ratings and recommendations by managing the full relationship lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities and partner with Institutional Sales to convert advocacy into new business.
• Build connections beyond centralized research teams with field consultants and other stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of assigned firms, decision-makers, priorities, and competitive dynamics.
• Provide market intelligence and actionable insights to leadership on trends and priorities.
