Job summary

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an experienced servant leader for the AVP, Student Experience Engineering. The role directs engineering, modernization and support of student-facing digital platforms, including portal, CRM, and chatbot solutions, across enterprise partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, IS, software engineering, business, or related field with 10+ years in software engineering or digital platforms.
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing engineering or technology delivery teams and enterprise portfolios.
• Experience leading modernization initiatives using Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern delivery practices.
• Hands-on with enterprise, cloud, low-code/no-code, and AI-enabled tooling; strong stakeholder collaboration.
• Proven ability to work with architecture, cybersecurity, data, operations and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead directors to oversee engineering, modernization, escalated support and continuous improvement of user-facing digital experiences.
• Oversee teams supporting Student Portal, CRM, chatbot, and Microsoft productivity solutions.
• Collaborate with Architects, Cybersecurity, Data, and Operations to deliver secure, scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Manage lifecycle governance, budgeting, governance metrics, and delivery performance.
• Drive incident management, on-call readiness, post-incident reviews and continuous service improvement.
