Job summary

GoodLeap is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the Funding & Payments team, owning architecture, delivery and operational health of high‑volume financial systems that decide, fund and process contractor transactions.

Lead and mentor managers and senior ICs, define multi‑quarter roadmaps, and partner with Product, Risk, Compliance and Operations to align engineering with financing outcomes while raising velocity and reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience including leadership
• Experience in regulated fintech, lending or payments platforms
• Distributed, event-driven microservices experience
• Experience with underwriting/decisioning systems or payments processing
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture (AWS) and API design
• Track record in scaling engineering organizations and hiring
• Excellent stakeholder management across Product, Risk, and Compliance
• Knowledge of CI/CD, security, and auditability in financial systems
• Ability to lead across multiple services and teams
• Experience with modern engineering practices and AI-assisted workflows

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Funding & Payments engineering team
• Own architecture and reliability of underwriting, funding and payments systems
• Guide decisions across a distributed services ecosystem
• Set engineering standards for security, compliance, and auditability
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to align delivery with outcomes
• Define and track KPIs for financing/payments and risk metrics
• Drive CI/CD, observability, and deployment automation
• Manage technical debt and platform scalability
• Establish operating rigor including on-call and incident response
