Job summary

GoodLeap is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the Funding & Payments engineering team. You will own architecture, delivery, and operational health of systems that decide, fund, and process contractor transactions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in technical leadership leading managers and cross-functional teams.
• Proven track record building engineering for complex, regulated fintech, lending, or payments platforms.
• Deep experience with distributed, event-driven microservices architectures for high-volume transactional systems.
• Experience with underwriting/decisioning systems, loan origination or servicing pipelines, or payments processing.
• Strong cloud-native architecture knowledge (AWS or equivalent), API design, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience scaling an engineering organization through growth, including hiring, structuring teams, and expanding scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Funding & Payments engineering team with a clear path to owning broader Pers Financing & Payments engineering.
• Mentor managers and senior ICs to foster high performance and accountability.
• Define and communicate a multi-quarter engineering roadmap tied to underwriting, funding, and payments outcomes.
• Own architecture, reliability, and security standards for regulated fintech systems across underwriting, funding, and payments workflows.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to align delivery with contractor-facing financing outcomes.
• Drive CI/CD, observability, and deployment automation, and manage technical debt as volume grows.
