Job summary

Hertner, Block & Bowser, Inc. is seeking an experienced Compliance Attorney to lead the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance and ethics program. The Senior Director will partner with executives and the Board on risk, policy, and regulatory matters, driving a hands-on, scalable program across a distributed organization.

The role requires a J.D. and 12–15 years of experience with strong leadership in large operations, plus familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance technology.

Qualifications

• J.D. or relevant advanced degree; J.D. strongly preferred.
• 12-15 years of compliance, regulatory, or legal experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Experience in large manufacturing, construction or distribution organizations preferred.
• Active state bar membership if applicable; CCEP or similar certification preferred.
• Proven ability to lead teams, influence senior leadership, manage risk, and operate across decentralized organizations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and enhance the enterprise-wide compliance program (policies, training, monitoring, reporting).
• Lead the compliance and ethics program (policies, training, investigations, reporting).
• Conduct risk assessments, identify emerging risks, implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain the Code of Conduct and key policies addressing anti-corruption, antitrust, conflicts of interest, government contracting, trade compliance, data privacy, etc.
• Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the Chief Legal Officer, leadership, and the Board, including metrics.
• Monitor regulatory developments and oversee responses to inquiries, audits, and enforcement matters.
• Provide compliance reporting to executive leadership and the Board.
• Oversee third-party due diligence, anti-corruption compliance, and supply chain requirements.
• Promote a consistent culture of compliance across a geographically distributed organization.
