Job summary

NextDecade seeks an Assistant General Counsel, Compliance Officer to lead enterprise-wide compliance and ethics. You will advise senior leadership, manage risk, and drive a culture of integrity across operations.

Responsibilities include developing policies, updating programs with regulatory changes, and directing investigations and training. The role requires JD, US licensure, and extensive compliance experience in regulated industries.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years in compliance, regulatory, ethics, or risk management roles.
• Experience designing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise compliance programs.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state regulatory frameworks; international experience preferred.
• Proven ability to act as strategic legal advisor to senior leadership.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and integrity for high-risk matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and enhancement of the company’s compliance and ethics program with policies and procedures.
• Advise leadership on regulatory developments and mitigation strategies.
• Oversee risk assessments, monitoring, and corrective action plans.
• Stay updated on regulatory developments and update programs accordingly.
• Monitor compliance metrics and oversee internal investigations and remediation.
• Manage regulatory responses, audits, and examinations.
• Oversee enterprise training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
• Establish reporting metrics and present updates to leadership.
• Support corporate governance and promote ethical decision-making.
