AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a Senior Business Development Director (Directed Energy) to drive growth in AI‑driven targeting and laser weapon systems for US military customers.

You will lead capture, build trusted relationships across Army, Air Force, and prime contractors, and shape winning proposals. The role requires extensive BD experience in directed energy, strong DoD networks, and the ability to translate requirements into executable programs.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of BD experience; 10+ years in directed energy; 5+ years of defense BD/capture or acquisition experience.
• Knowledge of Directed Energy Systems and their applications.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to write proposals and win contracts (USSOCOM).
• Established relationships in the Directed Energy ecosystem and with DoD offices.

Responsibilities

• Lead capture strategy for AI‑enhanced Laser Weapon Systems with Army, Air Force, DoD and prime contractor customers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Huntsville, AL; Albuquerque, NM; and NCR.
• Shape proposals and capability briefings highlighting DE advantages.
• Build a pipeline aligned to Army modernization and soldier lethality priorities.
• Provide market intelligence, competitor assessments, and insights into Directed Energy.
