Job summary

FNBO in Omaha seeks a Sr. Director, Advanced Data Scientist to lead the Partnership Division's data science and credit-risk modeling.

You will define a multi‑year modeling roadmap, oversee development of advanced ML models for credit decisioning and portfolio management, and align methodology with business priorities. This role requires translating complex analytics into executive insights, owning end‑to‑end model development, and guiding validation, monitoring, and governance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing statistical or ML models, preferably in financial services or consumer credit.
• Strong experience with Python and/or R; strong SQL skills.
• Experience with gradient boosting/XGBoost/LightGBM, ensemble methods, neural networks, and explainability techniques.
• Knowledge of credit-risk concepts, full model lifecycle, and risk governance.

Responsibilities

• Define and own a multi-year modeling roadmap for credit-risk models.
• Lead end-to-end model development from problem definition to production.
• Communicate modeling strategy and results to senior leaders.
• Conduct fair lending analyses and ensure regulatory alignment.
• Develop monitoring frameworks for model performance and stability.
• Provide technical leadership and establish best practices for ML in credit risk.
