Job summary

Nexstar Media Group is seeking a Senior Director of Content & Innovation to lead the Content First transformation across local markets nationwide. This corporate role collaborates with station leadership to strengthen content creation, accelerate innovation, and drive audience growth across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.

The candidate will coach teams, implement AI and workflow improvements, and scale best practices across markets while upholding journalistic integrity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of leadership experience in local media, journalism, digital content, streaming, or related fields.
• Prior senior roles such as News Director or Director of Content & Innovation preferred.
• Proven success leading high-performing teams and driving organizational change.
• Strong understanding of multiplatform content strategies and audience development.
• Experience implementing technology, AI, and workflow solutions to improve content operations.
• Exceptional communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Ability to build consensus and lead teams through transformation.
• Willingness to travel across multiple locations.

This corporate leadership role will work directly with station leadership teams to strengthen content creation, accelerate innovation, improve workflows, and drive audience growth across broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and emerging platforms. The position requires a highly collaborative leader who can coach teams, identify opportunities, implement new technologies, and scale best practices across the organization. The ideal candidate is a proven content executive, journalist, innovator, and/or change agent who understands how to create impactful content while leveraging technology, AI, and operational efficiencies to maximize performance.

• Experience implementing technology, AI, and workflow solutions to improve content operations.
• Exceptional communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders, and lead teams through transformation.
• Willingness to work closely with local station leadership teams.
• Extensive travel is required, as a significant portion of this role will be spent supporting teams and business operations across multiple locations.
