Qualifications

• 10+ years commercial casualty underwriting experience
• 7+ years management/supervisory experience
• Excellent presentation skills and strong communication
• Strong management, planning, organizational, and analytical skills
• Track record of building relationships with agents and brokers
• Proven negotiating skills with growth in a book of business
• Proven developer of talent with mentoring and coaching
• Ability to travel
• Experience with remote management
• CPCU, ARM and/or MBA desired

Responsibilities

• Lead Commercial Markets Underwriting in the West region and achieve annual profit and revenue objectives
• Own P&L including loss and ALAE ratio, controllable expenses, and Pre Tax Operating Ratio
• Communicate and collaborate with regional and segment management to execute CMU's business
• Develop and implement annual and long-range premium and business plans reflecting territory potential
• Hire, train, and manage underwriters; drive performance and broker assignments to exceed goals
• Delegate underwriting authority as needed and monitor staff performance
• Ensure implementation of underwriting policies focusing on risk selection and loss analysis
• Advance CMU-focused industry strategy and create new account monitoring tools
• Stay informed as an industry subject matter expert and share insights across PMA practice
• Execute corporate agency management program and monitor profitability of agents/brokers
• Hold participants accountable and ensure effective communication with management
• Demonstrate planning, communication, and organizational skills in evolving structure
