Job summary

Old Republic Commercial Risk is seeking an experienced underwriter to manage new and renewal business across workers compensation, commercial auto and general liability. The role emphasizes pricing, risk selection and creative solutions for large or insureds with high exposure.

You will leverage relationships with national and regional brokers to expand the book, mentor teammates, and contribute to underwriting strategy across the territory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 7 years of casualty underwriting experience.
• Advanced understanding of underwriting mechanics and fundamentals.
• Advanced knowledge of casualty coverage and loss sensitive deal structures (retrospective rating, large deductible, captive, and self-insurance).
• Strong relationships with local distribution network (agents, brokers).
• CPCU or ARM designation or similar professional credentials desired.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business including solicitation, selection and pricing of complex multi-line risks.
• Analyze and price coverage in accordance with underwriting rules and guidelines.
• Utilize a consultative selling approach to develop broker and client solutions.
• Prepare management reports on underwriting and marketing activities.
• Mentor and train coworkers in underwriting techniques.
• Coordinate account management activities across departments and negotiate proposals.
• Develop and maintain client relationships with brokers, agents, and buyers.
• Travel to engage with agents and brokers to build the pipeline.
