Job summary

Southern Star Research Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior/Director, Business Development to join our East Coast, USA team in a fully remote capacity. The role reports to the VP of Business Development and focuses on managing the sales process, building senior relationships, and delivering compelling proposals.

The candidate should have 5+ years of CRO BD experience, a strong network in biotech/pharma/medical devices, and the ability to operate across multiple internal teams and conferences.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct business development experience within a CRO selling across APAC.
• Strong working knowledge of the Australian clinical research industry.
• Proven network in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry, specifically early phase development.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills in a dynamic environment with competing projects and deadlines.
• Well-developed communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport at C level.
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in the medical, pharmaceutical or healthcare disciplines (highly desirable).

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end sales process, from initial engagement to project handover.
• Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with key suppliers or third-party vendors.
• Proactively identify and develop prospective customers.
• Develop clear, effective proposals and quotations with the support of the proposals team.
• Coordinate the sales effort with various internal departments.
• Provide management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
• Attend conferences and seminars, virtually and in person.
