Job summary

Ripple is seeking a Senior Director of Security Engineering in Chicago to lead a hands-on, paranoid security team protecting Ripple's products, infrastructure, and IT systems. You will shape security strategy, embed security across the stack, and govern AI-assisted development with guardrails and risk oversight.

You will partner with engineering and leadership to align security priorities, drive a strong security culture, and scale security programs across the organization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in security engineering, with leadership experience
• Hands-on AI security expertise and guardrails
• Expert in security architecture across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Strong cryptography, secure coding, and OWASP Top 10 knowledge
• Experience with authentication standards (OAuth, SAML, OIDC) and IAM
• Proven ability to drive security culture and mentor teams
• Excellent problem solving and communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience leading security reviews for new products and major initiatives

Responsibilities

• Set strategic vision and roadmap for Security Engineering with a focus on AI security
• Provide security guidance to senior leadership, engineering, and partners
• Define guardrails for AI agents and tools in Ripple's environment
• Implement SDLC guardrails, testing gates, and human oversight for AI workflows
• Lead and mentor a high-performing security team
• Drive security guideline adoption across engineering org
• Lead security architecture reviews before production releases
• Own vulnerability management, including pen-testing coordination and remediation
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and IT leadership on security priorities
