Job summary

Ripple in Chicago is seeking a Senior Director of Security Engineering to build and lead a dedicated team responsible for securing Ripple's products, infrastructure, and IT systems. You will shape security strategy, embed security into the stack, and guide AI tooling guardrails and auditable workflows.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep technical understanding, 15+ years in security engineering, and at least 5 years in management.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of security engineering experience.
• 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
• Hands-on expertise in AI security and guardrails around AI agents and tools.
• Strong knowledge of security architecture across cloud environments and modern stacks.
• Understanding of cryptographic principles, secure coding, and OWASP Top 10.
• Experience with IAM, authentication standards, and security policy enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic vision and roadmap for the Security Engineering team with emphasis on AI security.
• Provide security guidance to senior leadership and engineering teams.
• Define guardrails for AI agents/tools and enforce SDLC gates.
• Lead and mentor a high‑performing security team.
• Drive security guidelines across the engineering organization and perform architecture reviews.
• Own vulnerability management, including planning and remediation.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and IT leadership to align security priorities.
