Job summary

Damar Services, LLC in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Resource Specialist to help create a safe environment for clients and support our direct care team. The role focuses on crisis response, safety planning, and guidance for staff working with individuals with behavioral challenges, including those with DD/ID.

You will participate in training on verbal intervention and physical management, work at the Children's Residential location, and contribute to a mission-driven culture that values

Qualifications

• Must have six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population.
• Be able to provide formal proof of education required for the position.
• Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier.
• Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening.

Responsibilities

• Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations for all Damar programs - taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention when needed
• Initiates special precautions for clients that exhibit and meet high risk behavior criteria
• Takes appropriate action regarding any events that affect the mental and physical well-being of the residents, including but not limited to, providing client and staff support, informal training and crisis management
• Understands behavior support plans for high acuity clients
