Job summary

Damar Services, LLC is seeking a Resource Specialist to join the Children's Residential team in Indianapolis, IN. This role focuses on maintaining a safe environment for clients and supporting direct care staff, with opportunities to develop leadership skills within a mission-driven organization.

The position involves responding to crises, implementing behavior support plans, and ensuring resident well‑being. Starting pay is competitive, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for training.

Qualifications

• Six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals with DD/ID.
• Be able to provide formal proof of education required for the position.
• Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record meeting Damar’s insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and manage crisis situations across Damar programs, leading de-escalation when needed.
• Initiate precautions for high risk clients and maintain a safe environment for residents.
• Support residents’ well-being by addressing events affecting mental and physical health and providing staff support and training.
• Understand and apply behavior support plans for high acuity clients.

Our Resource Specialist position on our Resource Team is one of Damar's most unique departments! This team strives to keep the environment safe for our clients, and provides support for our other direct care staff. This person would work at our Children's Residential location: 6067 Decatur Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46221.

• Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations for all Damar programs - taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention when needed

• Initiates special precautions for clients that exhibit and meet high risk behavior criteria

• Takes appropriate action regarding any events that affect the mental and physical well-being of the residents, including but not limited to, providing client and staff support, informal training and crisis management

• Understands behavior support plans for high acuity clients

What you need to be considered:

• Must have six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population
• Be able to provide formal proof of education required for the position
• Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
• Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
• Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
• Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
