Job summary

Interstate Waste Services in Ohio seeks a Level A Fleet Mechanic/Technician to perform advanced diagnostics, complete rebuilds, and complex repairs across the heavy fleet while leading safety, quality, and uptime initiatives.

You will coach other technicians, ensure regulatory compliance (DOT/FMCSA/OSHA), and collaborate with maintenance leadership to optimize maintenance programs and downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of proven hands-on diesel mechanic experience with advanced diagnostics and major component overhaul.
• CDL Class B or A with air brake endorsement preferred due to vehicle movement.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on heavy fleet equipment.
• Perform complete rebuilds, major engine work, and transmission/differential R&R.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state regulations; mentor junior techs.
• Coordinate with operations to minimize downtime and improve uptime.
• Document work and support warranty recovery as needed.
