Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Sr. Shop Diesel Technician to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced diagnostics for light to heavy-duty trucks and trailers. You will handle repairs, document findings, and work with the service writer to meet customer needs in a fast-paced shop environment.

The role emphasizes advanced diagnostics, triage of complex repairs, and adherence to safety and DOT regulations, with opportunities for career advancement and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field (or equivalent combo).
• ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT inspections and preventative maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Diagnose, diagnose, and repair mechanical/electrical systems and components.
• Use hand tools, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders with photos.
• Communicate with service writer and shop manager to obtain approvals and parts.
