Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician in Richfield, OH to maintain and repair diesel tractors, trailers, forklifts and related fleet equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance, with opportunities for mentoring junior technicians and contributing to safety and compliance.

The role requires five years of vehicle maintenance experience, ASE Master (preferred) and CDL (preferred).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance.
• A heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate obtained from an accredited vehicle maintenance vocational/trade school may substitute for one-year vehicle maintenance experience.
• A Master ASE certification may substitute an additional two year’s vehicle maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated competency in repair and maintenance of Brakes, Electrical, PMI, Powertrain, and Trailing Equipment required.
• Medium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess proficient computer skills including maintenance programs, and diagnostic systems.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, modifies and performs preventive maintenance inspections; troubleshoots vehicle fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts and other equipment
• Performs advanced diagnostics to identify source of trouble and performs repairs and/or replaces or rebuilds all components and systems
• Makes necessary adjustments to equipment for safe and efficient operation and prepares required safety documentation
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced technicians
• Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completes reports in writing and electronically
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Perform other duties as required
