Job summary

FedEx Freight in Knoxville is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, and forklifts, with emphasis on preventive maintenance and diagnostics.

You will perform advanced diagnostics, document work, mentor less-experienced techs, and ensure safety and compliance while supporting a busy service operation.

The role offers competitive pay starting at 30.70 per hour, with benefits such as tool reimbursement and tuition aid.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance.
• A heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate may substitute for one year of experience.
• A Master ASE certification may substitute an additional two year’s vehicle maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated competency in repair and maintenance of Brakes, Electrical, PMI, Powertrain, and Trailing Equipment required
• Medium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification and Class A CDL preferred
• Must possess proficient computer skills including maintenance programs, and diagnostic systems
• Must possess in-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engines and on-board computers
• Able to lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with assistance and have necessary tools

Responsibilities

• Repairs, modifies and performs preventive maintenance inspections; troubleshoots vehicle fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts and other equipment
• Performs advanced diagnostics to identify source of trouble and performs repairs and/or replaces or rebuilds all components and systems
• Makes necessary adjustments to equipment for safe and efficient operation and prepares required safety documentation
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced technicians
• Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completes reports in writing and electronically
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
