Job summary

FedEx Freight seeks a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. The role covers preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs with emphasis on safety and documentation.

Starting pay is $30.70 per hour with benefits like tool reimbursement, shift differential, and tuition assistance for ASE certifications. You may also participate in the Apprentice Program and possess ASE certifications plus a Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
• One year experience maintaining vehicles or a certificate from a trades school or completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess the tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance programs and diagnostics.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices.
• Able to lift about 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics and adjusts equipment for safe operation.
• Collaborates with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Documents maintenance work in writing and electronically.
• Conducts safety inspections and documents results.
• Performs paint and body work as required.
• Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
