Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician to perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to keep trucks and equipment safe, reliable, and cost-efficient.

The role covers diagnosing faults, servicing engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, electrical systems, and completing work orders while adhering to DOT/FMCSA regulations. You will mentor junior technicians and may assume supervisory duties when managers are unavailable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL preferred, not required.
• Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training.
• 2-year school and 4 years of experience OR 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
• ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks.
• EPA section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles per regulations.
• Diagnose and repair to manufacturer specifications including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
• Follow procedures and document all work performed on work orders.
• Mentor Fleet Technician I and II and assist in their development.
• May perform moderate supervisory roles when Fleet Manager is not accessible.
