Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Platform Engineer to lead the GitLab-based software delivery platform, CI/CD architecture, and automation across multiple Agile teams. You will drive secure delivery practices, pipeline templates, and governance to ensure rapid, compliant software releases for mission-critical FAA-related applications.

The role requires deep experience with GitLab, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS, plus strong scripting and leadership skills. U.S.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 6-10 years.
Extensive experience designing, implementing, and administering enterprise CI/CD platforms.
Advanced experience developing and administering GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab Runners, reusable templates, variables, artifacts, and workflows.
Extensive experience administering GitLab repositories, merge requests, branching strategies, permissions, source code management, and governance.
Extensive experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar.
Advanced experience deploying containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) using Helm, GitOps, or similar tools.
Strong experience developing automation using Bash, Python.
Experience administering Linux environments for CI/CD platforms.
Experience supporting AWS cloud services and cloud-native deployments.
Extensive knowledge of software supply chain security, secrets management, dependency management, and automated security testing.
Experience integrating automated testing, quality gates, compliance validation, and security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and improve software delivery practices.

Responsibilities

Lead the engineering, administration, and continuous improvement of the GitLab platform, including projects, groups, runners, repositories, permissions, scalability, and health.
Establish enterprise CI/CD standards via reusable GitLab templates, libraries, automation frameworks, and deployment workflows to improve consistency and productivity.
Lead automated application security, software supply chain security, and compliance validation throughout the CI/CD lifecycle (SAST, SCA, image scanning, secrets).
Develop and maintain standardized deployment patterns for Kubernetes apps using GitOps, Helm, and automated validation.
Administer GitLab Container Registry, package repositories, and artifact management platforms for secure software delivery.
Collaborate with Cloud Systems Owners to ensure cloud platforms support automated deployment, scalability, resiliency, and reliability.
Partner with software teams to improve build performance, deployment reliability, and developer productivity through automation and self-service.
Partner with cybersecurity teams to align DevSecOps with security policies and monitoring requirements.
Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex build/deploy issues.
Review pipeline designs and deployment strategies to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
Define and monitor software delivery metrics (pipeline reliability, deployment frequency, build performance).
Develop DevSecOps standards, pipeline docs, release management processes, and governance guidance.
Mentor DevSecOps engineers and provide leadership on automation and GitLab administration.
Evaluate emerging DevSecOps tech and AI-assisted capabilities to boost productivity and security.
Participate in Agile ceremonies supporting multiple software teams.
