Job summary

Performance Contracting Group is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in the Kansas City metro area to advance cloud and platform engineering, drive reliable automation, and improve delivery speed across production and non-production environments.

This role mentors engineers, designs scalable infrastructure, and partners with security, development, and operations teams to elevate our DevOps maturity. Local candidates preferred for on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

5-7 years of progressive experience in DevOps, systems engineering, cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, software delivery, or related IT roles.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience designing, supporting, and improving CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, cloud/hybrid infrastructure, and tooling.

Responsibilities

Serve as senior technical escalation point for DevOps Engineers and project teams.
Lead root cause analysis for complex issues affecting environments, deployments, performance, and reliability.
Design, implement, and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines for secure, repeatable delivery across apps and infra.
Develop Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, Python, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
Contribute to cloud initiatives by designing scalable, secure, cost-aware solutions across compute, storage, networking, and monitoring.
Advance platform engineering with reusable templates, self-service workflows, and standardized delivery across teams.
Apply Site Reliability Engineering practices including SLOs/SLIs, incident response, capacity planning, and toil reduction.
Improve observability—logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerting, telemetry for faster fault detection and recovery.
Collaborate with development, security, and operations to design resilient deployments for cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
Develop automation for provisioning, patching, release readiness, and test data management.
Integrate security/compliance controls into pipelines and auto
Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate troubleshooting and reduce manual toil.
