Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to accelerate software delivery across Dev, Staging, and Operations environments for our federal client. The role emphasizes automation, observability, and security-by-design practices.

The engineer will bridge development and operations, implement IaC and GitOps, and contribute to OpenShift/Kubernetes deployments while ensuring compliance and scalability across the enterprise in Missouri/Illinois regions.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; sponsorship possible.
• Minimum 6+ years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering or related field, or 2 additional years of IT experience.
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Working experience with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar).
• Knowledge of OIDC/OAuth/Auth2 or similar zero-trust identity implementations.
• Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps style operations management.
• Experience with web server management (DNS, certificates).
• Knowledge of HTTP API design standards and best practices.
• Ability to manage networking for web applications (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and OpenShift, with knowledge of AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenShift Containerized Platform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
• Knowledge of monitoring & logging and security for containers.
• Experience deploying and managing databases, interacting with DBs via SQL and ORMs.
• Comfortable writing Python and BASH to create systems tooling.
• Ability to contribute code updates to existing repositories.
• Experience with security component integration in applications and databases.
• One or more technical certifications (Network+, Security+, CISSP).

Responsibilities

• Configure CI/CD for multiple web applications.
• Build apps from source and dependencies.
• Perform automated testing and security scans.
• Deploy to Dev, Staging, and Operations environments.
• Responsible for Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management.
• Author Helm charts to deploy resources to OpenShift.
• Manage and document system security; update scans and architecture.
• Develop enterprise cloud solutions and software; design architecture.
• Create architecture diagrams for new applications.
• Integrate security components with applications and databases.
