Job summary

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automation, tooling, and infrastructure for scalable, secure software delivery. The role emphasizes cloud familiarity, CI/CD excellence, and infrastructure-as-code with a strong DevSecOps mindset.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud platforms, automation, and mentoring teams, and will contribute to reliability and performance improvements across multiple environments.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen.
• Active Top Secret clearance needed to start with TS/SCI with Poly.
• Experience developing multi-tiered or microservice applications.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, Google).
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Strong scripting experience.
• SDLC understanding.
• Basic networking and security concepts.
• DevSecOps principles and IAM basics.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reliable delivery across environments.
• Design and manage automated infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for performance, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with development, QA, security, and operations teams to streamline workflows.
• Manage and optimize cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) for scalability and cost efficiency.
• Automate deployment processes including environment creation and configuration management.
• Troubleshoot issues across the stack from code to infrastructure.
• Maintain strong security practices across pipelines and deployments.
• Mentor developers and junior DevOps engineers in methodology and tooling.
• Improve reliability and resilience through design, chaos testing, and capacity planning.
• Support containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Develop and maintain documentation for environments and scripts.
