Job summary

Tanium is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, DevOps, to design and manage systems enabling rapid, safe software delivery. Hybrid work is required at Durham, NC or Reston, VA with other locations as options. The role emphasizes CI/CD, security tooling, and scalable infrastructure to support Tanium’s engineering org.

You will work with cross-functional teams to deploy cloud-native microservices, monitor systems, and improve deployment practices in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• CS Degree preferred.
• 5+ years in software development, DevOps, or SRE.
• 5+ years managing cloud-based services with AWS, GCP or Azure.
• 3+ years IaC with Pulumi or Terraform.
• 3+ years Docker/Kubernetes in production.
• Deep understanding of networking.
• 3+ years writing software using 3rd party APIs (Go preferred).
• Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef or other config management tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines for Tanium products and services.
• Deploy and maintain critical applications on cloud-native microservices.
• Collaborate with product security to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Design systems to monitor infrastructure and respond to incidents.
• Improve deployment quality and velocity through best practices.
• Plan and execute major improvements to our infrastructure.
