Job summary

Enlighten is seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team in Columbia, MD. The ideal candidate will lead deployments, automate infrastructure, and ensure reliability and scalability of services using Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across teams, and stay current with emerging technologies to optimize our on-premise and edge deployments. This is a hands-on senior role with customer-site presence.

Qualifications

• Security Clearance – TS/SCI and U.S. citizenship required.
• 9+ years in DevOps Engineering or Software Development with a related Bachelor’s; or 7 years with a Master’s; or 13 years with a HS diploma.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and their use in deployment/management.
• Proficient with Terraform and Ansible for configuration management.
• Experience deploying, scaling, and managing applications/containers/OS.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiar with Git, Flux, and related devops tools.
• Comfortable in a terminal environment; strong Linux sysadmin skills.
• AGILE software development methodologies; leadership/mentorship experience.
• Willing to work on customer site in Columbia, MD 5 days a week.
• Demonstrated tech-lead/mentorship/manager experience.

Responsibilities

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
• Support development and deployment of on-premise and portable Edge infrastructure.
• Automate deployment processes for reliability and scalability.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems; resolve issues.
• Continuously improve processes/tools for high availability and performance.
• Stay current with new technologies and industry trends.
• Mentor and guide engineers as a senior member of the team.
• Other duties as assigned.
