Job summary

The Senior Associate, Development at Center for Employment Opportunities in Washington, DC, is a hybrid role that advances complex fundraising opportunities, including government grants, national institutional funding, and major gifts. You will co‑lead strategic planning with leadership and mentor Development staff to strengthen workflows and outcomes.

You will collaborate with Program, Investment, and Grants teams to ensure timely submissions and compelling reporting, while aligning fundraising

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in fundraising, with at least 1–2 years of grant writing and revenue generation experience.
• Proven ability to manage complex cross‑functional projects across dispersed teams.
• Proven track record partnering with executive leaders, board members, or senior program directors on high‑stakes funding opportunities.
• Strong presentation, pitching, or briefing skills to institutional program officers and individual donors.
• Foundational project leadership and mentorship skills across geographically dispersed teams.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Salesforce CRM/donor management platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, assembles, and submits responses to foundation, corporate, and government RFPs, concept papers, and LOIs.
• Coordinates grant reports for institutional funders and individual donors.
• Researches prospective funders and develops strategy memos to support funding priorities.
• Coordinates site visits with funders and drafts briefing memos and follow‑ups.
• Partners with Program, Investment, Finance, and Grants teams to ensure timely deliverables and grant compliance.
• Tracks cultivation, solicitations, deliverables, and milestones in Salesforce.
• Leads regional or national fundraising strategies and collaborates with leadership on high‑level funding initiatives.
• Prepares strategy memos, concept decks, and presentations for grantmakers and stakeholders.
• Provides guidance and onboarding support to Development Associates and co‑leads training sessions.
