Job summary

Center for Employment Opportunities in Detroit, MI is seeking a Senior Associate, Development to advance our fundraising efforts and scale institutional support.

You will co-lead high-stakes revenue opportunities, work with leadership on strategic planning, and provide mentoring to Development Associates in a hybrid work setting. Experience with foundations, corporations, government funders, and major gifts is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional fundraising or grant writing experience.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects across geographically dispersed teams.
• Demonstrated track record partnering with executive leaders on high-stakes funding opportunities.
• Proven experience delivering presentations, pitches, or strategic briefings to institutional program officers and individual donors.
• Foundational project leadership and staff mentorship across distributed teams.
• Excellent written and verbal storytelling to articulate workforce development and criminal justice data.
• Ability to manage multiple proposal deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Salesforce CRM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, assembles, and submits compelling responses to foundation, corporate, and government RFPs, concept papers, and LOIs.
• Coordinates the assembly and submission of grant reports for funders and donors.
• Researches prospective funders and develops strategy memos for funding priorities.
• Coordinates site visits with current and prospective funders and drafts briefing memos and follow-up correspondence.
• Partners with Program, Investment, Finance, and Grants teams across CEO.
