Job summary

GEO Secured Services in Durham, NC seeks a dedicated transport officer to securely move detainees between destinations. You will ensure vehicle safety and compliance, track hours, and collaborate with management to resolve issues during operations.

The role requires a CDL (preferred) or ability to obtain it within 6 months, plus at least 3 years of law enforcement or detention experience and a strong work ethic under stress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; state requisites for employment; 21+ years old.
• Three years of law enforcement or prisoner handling/detention experience.
• Two years of driving experience in transportation.
• Approved training program and certification in Corrections/Law Enforcement/Military.
• CDL license or permit preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months of hire.
• Clean driving record for past 3 years; pass background checks and DOT drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

• Transit detainees securely between destinations and maintain safe, properly maintained vehicles.
• Assist management in resolving unique or unexpected transportation problems.
• Review vehicle inspection reports and develop summaries for Transportation management.
• Ensure all permits and licenses for vehicles are up to date.
• Verify safety equipment before trips and report issues to Transportation management.
• Track DOT HOS on Electronic Logging Devices.
• Participate in interviewing and screening of Transport Officers.
• Ensure all necessary paperwork and reports are submitted per policies.
• Meet or exceed safety measures (PBNDS/FBNDS) during transportation.
