Job summary

GEO Secured Services seeks a transport officer to securely move detainees and ensure vehicle safety and compliance. You will assist management on transport challenges and maintain vehicle eligibility, permits, and safety equipment, while tracking DOT hours and participating in screenings of new officers.

Required are a high school diploma, 3+ years in law enforcement or detention, 2+ years driving in transport, and willingness to travel. CDL preferred and overtime is common.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; state requirements may apply.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• 3+ years in law enforcement with arrest authority or 3+ years in prisoner handling/detention.
• 2+ years driving experience in transportation.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Completed an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement or Military.
• CDL license or permit preferred; must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Clean driving record with limited or no major violations in past 3 years.
• Able to work overtime and travel for extended periods; long shifts up to 16 hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist management with problems during detainee transport and develop effective solutions.
• Review vehicle inspection reports and develop summaries for Transportation management.
• Ensure permits and licenses for all assigned vehicles are in order.
• Verify vehicles have needed safety equipment before trips and report issues.
• Track DOT hours-of-service on Electronic Logging Devices.
• Assist in interviewing and screening Transport Officer applicants.
• Process paperwork and submit reports to Transportation management per policy.
• Ensure missions meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS safety standards while transporting detainees.
